St Tropez have recently launched an ultra lightweight self tanner for face, St. Tropez Purity Water Face Mist and I was really excited to see they've expanded their collection to include this amazing product. I absolutely loved their self tanning Classic Mousse ( you can read the review here ) and the idea of a bronzing mist really appealed to me as I've never tried this kind of texture before.
When it comes to face tanners I am extremely picky, I haven't found many to like and the only one I've been constantly using lately is Lancome Self Tanning Face Gel ( reviewed here ) but after trying St. Tropez Purity Water Face Mist I am glad I've found another favourite. This is hands down one of the finest self tanners for face I've ever used and the fact that is also formulated with natural, organic ingredients make me like it even more. Plus it smells amazing! Generally I am not a fan of face cosmetic products that contain perfume but this one has a nice, tropical scent that is really pleasant and most important, it didn't irritate my skin at all.
TEXTURE
The consistency is like water and it feels ultra lightweight on the skin. I love that the formula is so fine that you don't even feel it on the face and it gets absorbed within seconds so you can immediately apply makeup. If you have oily skin, you are going to love it as it doesn't feel greasy and let's your skin breathe so I suppose is less likely to cause any breakouts even if you have acne prone skin. On the other hand, if your skin is very dry, I suggest you apply a light moisturiser half an hour before applying this self tanner because it tends to dry out the skin a little.
Just bear in mind that this product is quite heavily fragranced so if your skin is overly sensitive to perfume you may want to avoid it or test it before you buy.
HOW TO USE
St. Tropez Purity Bronzing Water Face Mist is designed to be sprayed directly on the face but I prefer to pulverise a few spritzes on a cotton pad and then just gently wipe it all over my face to spread the product out evenly. I think this is the best way to apply this bronzing water if you want to avoid inhaling it and get an even application.
COLOUR
The colour it produces is light to medium after one fine coat but it can be built to be darker if needed. Being so lightweight you can apply multiple layers at once without feeling it heavy on the skin so the tan is easily buildable from light golden to a deep brown.
Just be careful if you apply several coats as it can get quite dark so if you prefer a light, natural bronze, use just a very fine layer. Being non tinted, this is not a self tanner with instant results so after the application you won't see any difference in your skin colour. Initially you may feel you'll get no tan and be tempted to add more ( like I did ) but be patient, within a few hours the tan starts to be noticeable so when you use this product for the first time better apply less and see how the colour develops on your skin.
If you are looking for a good self tanner for face, I highly recommend trying St. Tropez Purity Bronzing Water Face Mist. It is ultra fine, non sticky, smells incredibly nice, the colour it produces is very natural and easily buildable so it's literally perfect! In all honesty this is one of the best, if not the best, face tanners I've ever tried.
Do I recommend this over Lancome Self Tanning Face Gel?
I really like both of these products and I am usually using whichever one suits my needs. In winter or when my skin feels really dry, I will go for Lancome as it contains vitamin E and the texture is a bit thicker and more emollient. St Tropez Purity Bronzing Face Water Mist is more fit for summer due to its watery and light formula which is perfect for hot and humid weather. If you have normal or dry skin, you will probably love them both but if your skin is oily I suggest you'd rather try St. Tropez.
