SMOKY EYES WITH A TOUCH OF GLITTER

Valentine’s Day is almost here and if you’d like to look a bit different than usual on this special occasion or you just want to try something new and feel glamorous why not start with a sultry makeup and a pop of glitter. Glittery smoky eye is one of my favourite looks for evening and it’s not that hard to achieve, certainly less complex than you might imagine.

This is probably not the kind of make-up a lot of women would feel comfortable to wear and if you are not among the ones who like a flashy look, then you could try a subtle glitter eyeshadow. For a more natural effect apply it only to the centre of the eye and use a matte colour for the rest of the lid. It will give your makeup just a pop of sparkle, enough to bring a touch of sophistication to your look.

If you are using it for the first time, it’s best to start off with a cream based glitter eyeshadow. It’s very easy to use and you won’t need to worry about having sparkling particles falling all over your face.

I am currently loving Illusion DÓmbre from Chanel in the shade Mirifique. It is absolutely spectacular, no wonder it’s sold out in most of their stores! The glitter is so refined, the silver sparkling particles are ultra fine and they shine discreetly just enough to bring your eyes a subtle glittery boost.

The texture is beyond amazing. It’s a creamy powdery mousse that spreads extremely well and very evenly, you can even apply it with fingers because it adheres on the skin marvellously. It’s very long wearing even without a primer, the only base I used on my eyelids is a fine layer of foundation. But what I love most about this eyeshadow is that it doesn’t enhance fine lines, it actually blurs them out pretty nicely.

GET THE LOOK IN JUST FIVE EASY STEPS :

  • After prepping your lids with foundation, apply a fine coat of Illusion d’Ombre. It works also an excellent primer, you don’t really need anything else as a base. Just press with your finger into the glitter formula then lightly pat on your entire lids.
  • Layer a warm dark brown eyeshadow over the glitter. Blend the edges with a matte, medium brown. I used Espresso and Cork eyeshadows from Mac.
  • Add a second layer of glitter over the inner corner and middle of the lids.
  • Apply a charcoal shade onto the crease and the outer corner of the eye to add more intensity to the look.  I love Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in the shade Midnight. It’s a dark grey with navy undertones, a perfect alternative to black especially for blondes with fair skin tone.
  • Use a black pencil liner on the waterline and line the eyes very close to the lower lashes. Smudge the colour with fingers and then soften it with warm browns using a thin, flat brush.

That simple! This look is all about the eyes so keep your lips neutral and use a nude lipstick.
