THE PERFECT RED LIPSTICK FOR CHRISTMAS

As someone who loves nude lips, it's not very often that you will see me wearing red lipstick but during Christmas season I always feel the need to switch up my makeup look and wear festive colours. And nothing says holiday party season quite like a glamorous red lip!

When I'm looking for that statement lip look I usually reach for the iconic Ruby Woo from MAC and this is the one I'm wearing in the pictures. I'm sure you've already heard about it but just in case you haven't tried it and you are looking for a lip colour with maximum impact, you definitely should give this a go. It is hands down one of the most stunning shades I've tried, a truly beautiful, sophisticated red wearable for any occasion, especially the holidays.

Ruby Woo is a really pigmented lipstick with a great colour pay off and a completely matte finish. The staying power is really strong, it stays put even for six hours without any touch ups. Plus, it doesn't crease and wears off really evenly. I'd just wished it was a touch more creamy to apply. Because the texture is a little dry, it can be a bit hard to spread so I would recommend using this over a lip balm and use a lip brush to apply it as it will help the product glide more easily on the lips.

There are lots of gorgeous red lipstick shades at MAC but if I had to pick one, it would definitely be Ruby Woo. This is the colour that stood out to me the most. It is a cool toned, vibrant red with blue undertones that pairs nicely with fair skin but it also matches medium and dark skin tone really well. It is that perfect, universal red that looks flattering on almost anyone.

If you find it difficult to apply it on the contour, using a lip liner definitely helps. It will also prevent the product from running around your mouth and make it last even longer. To line my lips I used MAC Lipliner in Cherry. This is a really nice shade to pair with Ruby Woo and it can also be worn alone on the entire lip as it looks really gorgeous.

GET THE LOOK

The lips are the main focus of this look so I tried to keep eyes simple by using neutral eyeshadows with matte texture.

For the makeup in the image I used Bobbi Brown eyeshadows in Taupe and Mahogany. I applied Taupe all over the lid then the darker brown onto the crease and the outer corner of the eye to add a bit of definition. I also took this brown under the eye to smoke out my lower lash line.

To intensify the look I applied Mac Engraved Powerpoint Eye Pencil on the water line and on the upper lash line.

For face I used Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation in the shade NW 25. I really like how radiant it makes my skin look. As my bronzer and contour powder, I used one of my absolute favourites, Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in the shade natural. I lightly applied the bronzer with a soft brush around the temples, nose and neck.
