TOM FORD COCOA MIRAGE EYE COLOUR QUAD

I am a huge fan of Tom Ford makeup. There are so many products from their beauty line that I really adore but if I were to choose one, it would definitely be a highlighter or an eye shadow. They have some of the most exquisite and sophisticated formulas out there and if you haven't tried them yet, do so when you pass by their beauty counter. They are absolutely stunning.

Cocoa Mirage has been around for a little while now but I was late to add it to my collection as I already own too many brown eyeshadows and to be completely honest I've found it to be a bit over priced. But as much as I did not need new makeup, after trying these shades on my eyelids I just couldn't resist it. This compact is just far too beautiful. Now whilst I wouldn't say the colours are necessarily unique what truly stands out for me at this quad is certainly the quality! I don't think I have ever tried eyeshadows as fine and soft.

The shades are exceptionally smooth and buttery and the way they blend and work effortlessly together is a delight. They have a silky texture that feels more like a cream upon application and glides onto your eyelids so easily. You can see in the picture how beautiful the shades blend together.

For the look in the picture I applied the lighter brown all over the lid and then the darker brown to the outer corner and onto the crease to accentuate the shape of my eyes. Then I used a little extra from the burgundy shade on the very outer edges to smoke out the colours and to add a bit of warmth.

I also used this shade with a much smaller brush under my lower lashes to create that smokey eye look but it turned out more intense than I have expected. The eyeshadows are very pigmented and appear darker on the skin so they definitely need to be applied with a light hand if you want a soft makeup. But they are absolutely gorgeous!

There are three matte and one satin shade in this palette : a white cream matte, a light warm brown, a darker satin burgundy brown with reddish undertones and a cool dark brown. I particularly love the taupe camel shade that can be worn alone for a soft day time makeup which is also suitable for a business meeting or office.

Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage is no doubt a beautiful and versatile palette and if you feel like investing in a high quality eyeshadow quad and you don't mind the high price then this is definitely one worth the splurge. I think it would work for almost all types of skin and hair colour but bear in mind that the shades are slightly darker on the lid than they appear in the pan so if you have very fair skin you may find them to be a bit too strong. I am naturally very pale but I self tan regularly so I can use all the colour quite easily when my face is bronzed. But when I am not tanned, i only use the lighter brown as I find the other shades to be way too dark for my natural complexion. That aside, the shades are absolutely superb and work perfectly together for the softest to the most dramatic eye makeup.
