ATHENS XCLUSIVE DESIGNERS WEEK

athens xclusive designers week 2018

Last week I had the pleasure to attend the 24th edition of Athens Xclusive Designers Week that took place at the Royal Garden of Zappion Hall and watch the unique creations of famous Greek and top international fashion designers. I was absolutely thrilled to have been invited along my first Fashion Week in Greece. There were five fantastic days of new trends, beautiful collections and lots of inspiration.

Among the participating brands and designers were Diego Dolcini, Sotiris Georgiou, Catalin Botezatu, Tassos Mitropoulos, Luna Morgaciova, Olga Karaververis, Klelia Andrali, Vassilis Zoulias, Lefkon and the graduate students of AKTO Art and Design College.

The highlight and special guest of this edition was the famous Zuhair Murad who never fails to amaze. The show was incredible, upbeat and lively, the location, the soundrack that built an amazing atmosphere and the stunning collection of dresses were all simply gorgeous! This was such a beautiful presentation! If you missed my videos on Insta-stories from the show, you can see them here.

Being my first time attending Athens Xclusive Designers Week I tried to be present to almost every show to have a broader image of the Greek fashion designers scene and I must say I loved every minute of it! I had such a great time and saw so many amazing shows and presentations by so many talented designers. I am sorry for not capturing any photos but if you want to have a peak at some videos from the shows, check out my Insta-stories here.

WHAT I WORE

Attending this event was not something planned in advance, I received the invitation at short notice so I didn't have time to arrange having a photographer with me to picture all my outfits but fortunately on the last day I managed to get some photos taken.

I wore a black outfit, rather simple, relaxed and understated which is very much my style. I chose a sharp blazer and teamed it with a pair of ankle length trousers. I then opted for a plain backpack to keep the outfit laid back and cool and styled it with my favourite pair of sunglasses from Rayban.

To add a touch of femininity to the look I chose a silk, lace top which was a perfect contrast with the masculine pieces of my outfit.

To dress up the look a bit and give it a more polished air I wore a pair of double monk strap loafers with slightly shiny point and textured leather. I'll admit I seldom wear heels, I am a loafer addict and I am pretty excited I have found such a practical and versatile model. These shoes are just the ideal upgraded basic to take from day to night as they can easily elevate a casual look without compromising on comfort. I bought them from Perla Pura Boutique which is one of my favourite shops in Athens as they always have stylish, good quality shoes made in Italy, at very affordable prices.
