A while ago I was invited by the Dior team to test some of their newly launched products and get a full makeup look. I really like playing with colours and do my own makeup but I absolutely loved the idea of having it done by a professional. I was also quite excited to meet Marcelo Siv, one of Dior's most talented makeup artists and I couldn't wait to experiment a new look.
Marcelo opted for a sultry, cranberry smoky eye that would enhance my natural eye colour and kept the rest of the face natural with just a soft touch of bronzer and a nude lip. I honestly love a bold eye makeup and this coppery shade looked absolutely gorgeous in combination with my blue eyes! I really liked my overall look as it definitely suited my style and personality.
To achieve this look he used the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette no 677, Hypnotize. I liked these eyeshadows because the colours are perfectly matched so that you can incorporate them in nearly any look. It's a mix of matte and satin finishes that you can use to create a natural day look or a bold and sophisticate evening makeup. The colours in the pictures are not exactly true to shade because the light was not the best when I took the photos but trust me they are gorgeous. They have a very fine, buttery texture and an amazing lasting power on the eyelids.
The shades work and blend together really nicely and the pigmentation is absolutely beautiful. The palette has three shimmery shades, a deep matte brown with sparkles and a rich matte chocolate. Personally I've never been a fan of shimmer eyeshadows and I rarely use them, however after this makeup session I've learnt that if you combine them with matte textures they transform into a really gorgeous, silky semi-matte satin finish that looks very chic and sophisticated.
On the face, after prepping the skin with Capture Total Perfect Skin Creator, he applied Dior Star Foundation one of their best seller products. And I absolutely loved it! The texture is creamy and lightweight, it glides easily on the skin and the formula is just amazing. It contains pigments that help to diffuse light and give the skin a luminous and fresh looking appearance without looking too glowy or fake. It has a satin, slightly dewy finish which I simply adore because it looks very real and natural on the face. For anyone with normal to dry skin, looking for a boost of radiance I highly recommend trying it out.
The coverage is light to medium but you can build it up, it definitely doesn't fell heavy or cakey even if you apply more layers. The staying power is also good, it's not very long wearing but it lasted on my face for a good six hours then faded naturally and melted into the skin nicely, without leaving patches.
To give my face that soft sun-kissed look, the makeup artist applied Dior Nude Tan Bronzer no 03 on the forehead, cheeks and the tip of the nose, exactly in those places where the sun would normally hit the skin for a more natural effect. The powder has some tiny amount of shimmer but it's not overpowering, it only adds a soft glow and luminosity to the skin. This is one of those versatile products perfect for adding a tan, to use as a blush or even for a light contouring. It blends beautifully on the skin and does not leave patches if you apply it with a good, fluffy brush.
I loved the whole Dior makeup look and all the products I've tried but for me the standout product was definitely Diorshow Maximizer 3D Plumping Lash Primer. Because I have thin lashes I am constantly on the hunt for products that would make them look thicker so I was more than thrilled to discover this amazing primer. It is designed to improve thickness and the look of lashes and I must admit it does that better than I could ever expected. And in combination with Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara it made my lashes look amazing and full of volume as you can see in the picture above. Honestly I've never seen them so full and thick! I am literally in love with both of these products and they will certainly become a staple in my makeup collection.
Overall I found this experience really nice and enjoyable, I loved Marcello's real passion and enthusiasm for makeup, I also found out a few tips and tricks and got the chance to test so many fantastic products I really did not know about.
