Vita Liberata is a brand I have grown really found of over the years as I really liked everything I've tried from their self tanning range. I love that their products are fragrance free and contain more organic ingredients and less chemicals compared to other self tanners on the market.
Vita Liberata Self Tanning Lotion is another favourite self tanner from their line that I've discovered just recently and I am very thrilled with the results. It is a an ultra hydrating tanning lotion that contains natural ingredients like Aloe Vera , grape seed extract and hyaluronic acid to deeply moisturise the skin and most important it does not contain alcohol, parabens, silicones or other harsh chemicals that could harm your skin.
The lotion is tinted which is really helpful as you can see where you apply the product so you can avoid any tanning mishaps. The guide colour is very dark, it's a reddish deep brown but it was a bit misleading at first as after I applied it, I had the impression I would get a very dark bronze but when I showered off, the colour faded quite a lot. I'd say the tan is rather light after one application for a self tanner labeled as "dark". I honestly would have expected the bronze to be more intense, however if you apply it two days in a row it can be built to a deeper tan that looks more brownish and very natural.
After application the gel dries relatively fast, it takes probably five to ten minutes at most to sink in and does not feel sticky at all. It does have a hint of self tanner smell once the tan starts to develop but it's very subtle and fades completely after you shower. The bronze lasts on me four to five days and I love that it does not come off in patches.
Overall I think this is a fabulous product, it is hands down one of my favourite self tanners at the moment and even if it does not give me a tan as dark as I'd wish with one coat only, I would definitely repurchase it simply because I just love the texture. It is gorgeous, very thin and silky, it blends so easily and feels very hydrating and lightweight on the skin without being at all greasy.
Vita Liberata products are all fantastic quality and you really can't go wrong with any of their self tanners. I also love the Phenomenal 2-3 Weeks Self Tanning Mousse ( review here ) but I think I like this self tanning tinted lotion more as it's more suitable to my dry skin. It really is a product I highly recommend, especially if you have dry or mature skin.
HOW TO APPLY
When you use mousse formulas always make sure to use a mitt because it makes the application a lot easier. It will help the product spread much faster and will ensure an even coverage and a streak free, beautiful tan. I personally prefer Vita Liberata Tanning Mitt because is softer than other mitts I've tried from other brands and it helps the product blend in fast so I don't have to rub in for too long. You can wash it after each application and reuse it several times. I usually change mine after five to ten applications but it can be used even for longer.
VITA LIBERATA ILLUMINATE WASH OFF BODY BRONZER
This is a bronzing lotion that will give you an instant colour that washes off easily. It is not a self tanner, it's more like a body makeup with a very nourishing formula that will give your skin a tanned look. The colour guide is similar to that of the self tanner, slightly more golden and it's transfer proof so it won't come off on your clothes but be careful if you are wearing white though. I like that it spreads very easily and doesn't leave streaks.
If you are looking for a product that will give you instant results without having to wait for a tan to develop, then this could be a worth try but don't expect a deep bronze. On fair skin the tan will be rather subtle but very even and natural.
