As much as I love the sun and enjoy going to the beach, I also care about my skin health so when it comes to tanning, my options have completely changed in the past few years. I usually sit in the sun only in the morning, for no longer than one hour and I make sure to always apply sunscreen. It’s the best way to get a soft, natural tan without damaging my skin. When I want a deeper bronze I prefer to use self tanners as they are far safer and a much healthier alternative to sunbathing.
The more you expose your skin to the UV rays the more likely you are to get wrinkles, dark spots or other skin diseases so using sunscreen, drinking lots of water and moisturising you skin are of utmost importance during the summer months.
Thankfully, there are plenty of beauty products I can rely on and today I thought I’d round up some of my favourites and share with you what I’m currently using. And I will start with my most used SPF for summer, Piz Buin Ultra Light Hydrating Sun Spray. This sunscreen is so light, it absorbs instantly, it’s water resistant and smells great. When my skin feels dry from the salt water I just go for the classic one, Piz Buin Moisturising Sun Lotion which is more nourishing while being non sticky.
For face I always apply a higher SPF. On the beach I use Piz Buin Light Dry Touch SPF 30. It’s a very light lotion that absorbs quickly and doesn’t feel greasy on the skin at all. For under my makeup I use Hawaiian Tropic Face Protective Sun Lotion SPF 30 because it’s soft, it blends well and has a very fine, dry texture. I also love the fact it has a slight hint of shimmer which adds luminosity to my face so I no longer need to use a highlighter.
After the beach when I really don’t want something heavy on my face, I apply Bobbi Brown Remedies Skin Moisture Solution no. 86 ( review here ) for a moisture boost. The texture is watery, very thin and it feels weightless on the skin.
In addition to the serum I use on my face, I also like to pamper my whole body with the Body Shop Almond Milk and Honey Body Butter. It’s so calming and moisturising, is perfect for hydrating your skin after it has been exposed in the sun. I love that it does not contain mineral oil and all the emollients in the ingredients are of vegetal origin. The texture is very soft and silky, nourishing but not heavy and it sinks into the skin so well. Smells delicious and works wonders at smoothing and hydrating dry skin while still being light. I love all the body butters from Body Shop but this one is by far my favourite as it has the finest formula of all so it really is great for summer.
Another product I’m loving at the moment is Biotherm Deo Pure. It has a clean, fresh scent that lasts all day, it’s non sticky and does not irritate my skin after shaving.
