Merry Happy Holidays, everyone! 2020 has almost come to an end and honestly I am soo ready for the next year! Let's hope it will be a better one for all of us!
In the past few months I didn't really focus much on glam makeup to be honest because I had nowhere to wear it but on New Year's Eve I plan to truly shine and step into 2021 in a glamorous vibe. I am thinking of a smokey eye topped with a bit of glitter, plenty of highlighter, nude lips, wavy hair, some champagne and ..a great mood! And I thought it's a good idea to show you some of my favourite products I am going to be using to create a glowy makeup for this special night.
If you love a glitzy makeup you simply need the Luxury Palette of Pops in Dazzling Diamonds from Charlotte Tilbury. I just can't think of a better eyeshadow quad for New Year's Eve! It is absolutely gorgeous and different from anything I've tried before. It has four super sparkly shades with a beautiful glisten of glitter - a white rosy-gold champagne, a medium golden brown, a deeper bronze and a navy-greenish dark grey. They have such a glamorous texture and the finish is simply stunning! I am going to take some photos with a makeup look using this palette and show it to you in another post to see how beautiful these eyeshadows look applied on the eyes.
For me this formula looks better when applied with the finger on top of matte eyeshadows but of course you can also wear them alone for an extra glossy finish. For a less flashy effect, you can apply them only in the centre of the mobile lid to add a touch of glam to your makeup.
To add radiance to my face , I usually use Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in the shade Bronze. It is a multi tasking product that you can use as highlighter, bronzer, or a blush to add a luminous flush to your face or as an illuminating eyeshadow. It's a pretty versatile powder I reach for quite often, not only when I want a glam makeup but also for everyday looks to add a pretty glow to the face. The level of shine is buildable so you can get it from a subtle natural sheen to a more intense shimmer depending on the desired effect. I like that it does not give me that frosty type of highlighting no matter how much I apply. This is more of that lit-from-within type of glow that looks very natural and chic.
The Bobbi Brown Mini Highlighting Power in Pink Glow is another favourite I use especially when I want a flashy effect. It is a rosy-peach beige suitable rather for fair complexions and it's a bit more intense and shining than the Shimmer Brick. It provides almost a metallic finish but again it doesn't look frosty neither it emphasises pores or wrinkles as it often happens with strong highlighters. The texture is super soft and silky and blends like a dream.
If you like a natural look with just a subtle glow, I recommend you try the Strobe Lighting Powder from Hourglass. The brand is famous for their extremely finely milled powders and this one is simply superb. I have it in the shade Euphoric Strobe Light - a light to medium champagne beige that gives a soft veil of radiance and brightness to the skin and makes you look more fresh and rested. I find this looks beautiful on both tanned and pale skin because the pigments are perfectly balanced. It is neither pink nor too gold or orange, it's a perfect neutral beige that blends well with the colour of your skin without changing it because it has a translucent and incredibly fine texture. Love it!
For liquid highlighters, Dior Backstage Face & Body Glow is my go-to when I want a pretty glow that looks natural and lasts all day/night. This is extremely long wearing, waterproof and transfer proof. I can wear it even on hot and humid weather because once it sets, it stays put and doesn't fade away until I remove it with cleanser. This is also a versatile product I can use in multiple ways. I either mix it with foundation to make it more sheer and dewy for a slight sheen all over the face or I apply it on top of my makeup to highlight only certain areas. Or I mix two drops with my moisturiser to get a radiant base for make-up. You can basically play with it in so many different ways because it has a thin and watery texture that allows it to be mixed easily with other products. A great highlighter with such a gorgeous finish and texture!
Dior Backstage Face & Body Glow is available in only one shade, 001 Universal but I don't think it's suitable for everyone. This is a pale golden beige with some peachy reflections, it's a very beautiful shade that looks very nice on me both when I am pale and tanned but on deeper skin tones I think this may look too bright or ashy.
I hope you found this post useful in case you needed inspiration for a festive makeup look!
Wishing everyone the best of luck in 2021! May the New Year bring you everything you are wishing for!
xx
